Trader rescued hours after abduction
Police rescued a trader and arrested three alleged abductors from Bhagiratpur area of the district town nearly eight hours into his abduction on Wednesday.
The victim, Mohammad Ali, 24, is a vegetable trader at capital's Demra Kitchen Market.
Sub-inspector Abdul Barek of Sadar Police Station, also the investigation officer, said a gang of three, posing themselves as DB police, picked up Ali from Madhabdi Bus Stand area around 2:00pm.
They confined him to a place in Bhagiratpur area, beat him mercilessly and later demanded Tk 2 lakh ransom from his family members for his release.
Victim's family paid the gang Tk 10,000 through a bKash account number and informed the police.
Being informed, police raided a place behind an automobile servicing centre in Bhagiratpur area around 9:30pm.
They rescued Ali and arrested Siddikur Rahman Emon, 25, Akram Hossain, 25, and Masud, 28.
