3 of a family die as car crashes into electric pole
Three members of a family were killed and two others injured as a private car carrying them hit a roadside electric pole in Jashore town early today.
The deceased are Tanima Yesmin Piasha, 25, her sister Tanzila Yeasmin Yeasha, 28, and their sister-in-law (wife of brother) Tithi, 32, reports our Benapole correspondent.
Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said a private car carrying five passengers hit an electric pole at Biman office intersection of the town around 1:45am, leaving all the passengers injured.
They were taken to Jashore General Hospital where doctors declared Tanima, Tanzila and Tithi dead while Tithi’s son Monirul, 4, and their relative Rhidoy, 30, have been receiving treatment at the hospital.
The bodies were sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC added.
Schoolboy crushed under bus in Dhamrai
A schoolboy today died after he was hit by a bus in Dhamrai, on the outskirts of Dhaka.
The deceased was identified as Imran Hossain, 12, son of Motiar Hossain of Shreerampur area of Sutipara union and a sixth grader at a local school, reports our Savar correspondent quoting Sheikh Kamrul Islam, sub-inspector (SI) of Dhamrai Police Station.
The incident took place at Sreerampur Bridge area on Dhaka-Aricha Highway this morning when the bus hit Imran while he was crossing the road and left him critically injured, SI Kamrul said.
Locals rushed Imran to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar where doctors pronounced him dead, he also said.
Police are trying to seize the bus, the police official added.
