‘Deconstruction for Change’ organised at Gallery Chitrak

A group print exhibition, Deconstruction for Change, opened recently at Gallery Chitrak in Dhanmondi. Asaduzzaman Noor, renowned actor, politician, activist and Jatiya Sangsad member from Nilphamari-2, inaugurated the event as the chief guest. Ekushey Padak awardee and renowned artist Monirul Islam, Dean Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka, Professor Nisar Hossain, and Associate Professor, institution of Fine Arts, University of Chittagong, Sufia Begum, were the special guests. Art critic and writer Professor Nazrul Islam presided over the programme.

A selection of 46 artworks by seven artists are showcased at the exhibition. The featured artists include A K M Alamgir Haque, Sujit Sarkar, Ruhul Karim Rumee, Dr Nityananda Gaine, and Md Jashim Uddin.

The artworks of A K M Alamgir Haque are based on waterless lithographs, salt bite etching and aquatint, and dry point with chine-colle. Md Jashim Uddin used waterless lithograph, and dry point and collagraph in his artworks. Ruhul Karim Rumee has exhibited some splendid woodcut artworks.

Professor Jasim Uddin gave an introduction to lithography at the start of the inaugural ceremony. Afterwards, Sufia Begum, Professor Nisar Hossain, artist Monirul Islam, Asaduzzaman Noor, and Professir Nazrul Islam delivered their speeches. The ceremony ended with the formal opening of the exhibition, welcoming the visitors. 

The exhibition is open to all from 10 am to 8 pm, till January 30.
