Public university admission: Uniform test from next academic year
A uniform admission test will be held next academic year to enrol students at all public universities in Bangladesh.
The decision was made today at a meeting between the vice chancellors of public universities and University Grants Commission, the statutory apex body for higher education, at the latter’s office in the capital.
"We have decided in the meeting that there will be a combined admission test for all public universities next year," Prof Dr Muhammed Alamgir, a member of the UGC, told The Daily Star.
This was the first meeting and the UGC will sit soon with the leading public universities to finalise the process, he said after the meeting.
Once implemented, this will reduce admission hassles for the students. It will relieve admission seekers of the extra time, cost and travel required to sit for separate admission tests in public universities in different districts.
