Accused flees from Pallabi police custody

An accused, who was on a two-day remand, fled away from the custody of Pallabi Police Station in Dhaka last night.

Atiqur Rahman, aged around 30, is an accused in a human trafficking case, Dadan Fakir, officer-in-charge of the police station.

The OC said Sub-Inspector Zillur Rahman, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, took the accused from the lockup on the ground floor to first floor of the building without a handcuff.

Atiqur managed to flee from there, the OC said, without giving any more details on how the accused made his escape.

The accused was placed on a two-day remand on December 9 in the human trafficking case, a day after his arrest in the area.

The police authorities today closed Sub-Inspector Zillur Rahman for taking the accused out of the lockup without a handcuff.
