4 killed in Mymensingh road crash

Four people were killed after a bus crashed into a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh this morning.

The accident occurred when the Kishoreganj-bound bus from Mymensingh collided with the battery-run auto-rickshaw at Char Sreerampur on Mymensingh-Kishoreganj road around 11:00am, our Mymensingh correspondent reports quoting police.

Among the deceased, Rabeya Khatun (75), was killed on the spot while Shahara Banu (62), Lal Mia (50), and Rafiqul Islam (55), died after they were rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH), the correspondent reports quoting Md Borhan Uddin Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gouripur Police Station.

The deceased were on their way to Gouripur upazila headquarters to get their government allowance.

Police managed to seize the bus but the driver managed to flee, the official added.

A case has been lodged in this connection.
