BERGER recognizes young painters
The award giving ceremony of 20th Berger Young Painters' Art Competition (BYPAC) was held on December 11 at Lakeshore Hotel in the capital.
Rupali Chowdhury, managing director of Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd, welcomed the guests and congratulated the winning artists at the programme, says a press release.
Eminent artist Syed Jahangir, chairman of the jury board of 20th BYPAC also spoke on the occasion. Rupali Chowdhury handed over the crests and prize money, while Syed Jahangir handed over certificates to the winners.
Out of 461 competing paintings, the deserving winners are (from first to sixth prize): Sourav Chowdhury, Abdullah Al Bashir, Monjur Hossain Opu, Rasu Chowdhury, Md. Joinul Abedin and Maturam Chowdhury. In addition to the prize money, first three winners of the BYPAC will visit the National Art Museums of Singapore, Bangkok and Malaysia respectively, and the next three winners will visit Rabindrabharati University in Kolkata.
Renowned artist & cartoonist, Professor Rafiqun Nabi was honoured with the prestigious life-time achievement award.
The programme also featured musical performance by singer Dinat Jahan Munni and popular comedian Abu Hena Rony.
A five-day exhibition, displaying the top 40 paintings of 20th BYPAC and photographs of winning paintings of BYPAC 1996-2014, will be held from December 19-23, 2015 at Gallery Chitrak, Dhanmondi.
