PMS: Polish Me Splendid

I am a nail biter. Not a habit I am proud of, to be honest. It is also a dirty one, truth be told, but regardless, it's a habit. Fortunately, I did somehow manage to stop. And I did a wonderful job at it.

You nail biters might be wondering how I curbed this habit; sheer will power? Not really, no. My real support was nail salons that specialised in nail extensions. And that's when I heard about 'Polish Me Splendid.' They were like a godsend. Now, it's not the first time I tried to find solace in a nail salon, but it was the first time that I found one that was environmentally conscious, along with other qualities.

Amani Mulk and Rabita Chowdhury, two enterprising bosses, one a chartered accountant, the other a banker, launched Polish me Splendid about three months ago. They started this company based off the research they did in the beauty sector in Bangladesh. They found that the concept of nail art and design was lacking. Most of us women knew this, but didn't do much about it, but thankfully, Amani and Rabita did.

Once they started the venture, the response and engagement has been beyond amazing. Girls love doing their nails, because it's not only therapeutic, but it's a great time to catch up with friends.

I only realised how important nails are after going to Polish me Splendid. It's amazing how much of a difference doing my nails made for me in terms of uplifting my mood and confidence. And they don't compromise on quality, using only the latest systems in the market. They don't use plastic (yes!) and the acrylic and gel extensions they use are environmentally friendly. Not only do they specialise in nail extensions, they also do gel manicures and pedicures using top quality products that they source from all over the world. They only use high quality organic and handmade products for their manicures and pedicures.

Since they started, they have managed to streamline the nail process very efficiently. It takes an hour to get your nails done. They have done so knowing fully well that everyone is busy these days. The staff is super friendly and the hour goes by super-fast when you are talking to them. Another great thing about Polish me Splendid is that all designs are unique. Amani is there every step of the way, helping you so that you get your perfect design. And they last. A good month. How great is that?!

The prices are quite competitive, considering the quality of products and accessories that they use. Their removal prices are low, compared to most salons in Dhaka who also dabble in the nail art market. Their process for removal makes sure that your natural nails are not ruined. At the end of the day, the quality of your natural nails are of the highest priority to them. They will advise on nail care, make sure you give your nails breathing space between each session and how to give your nails tender loving care.

They hope to have their nail bars all over the city so that women scattered around can have access to a top-notch salon. When that works out, they have plans to expand to other cities, even other countries. Both Amani and Rabita worked in Dhaka's corporate sector for a long time, and now, Polish me Splendid is their passion, and their creative outlet.

It is by far the best place to get your nails done, and I can whole-heartedly recommend your next weekend plans to include a visit to the nail bar so they can polish you splendid.
