Coronavirus-infected Bangladeshi in critical state in Singapore: Momen

One of the Bangladeshis infected with coronavirus or Covid-19 in Singapore is now in "very critical state" and is not responding to the medicine given to him, said Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen today.

Singapore's Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan conveyed the updates during a telephone conversation with his Bangladeshi counterpart in the morning.

"They [Singapore government] are doing their best to take care of him [the Bangladeshi citizen] with top-notch medical services," Momen told reporters after attending a function in the city.

He said the 39-year-old Bangladeshi had been suffering from respiratory and kidney problems before he got infected with the coronavirus. He has been in the intensive care unit for the last 13 days.

"He [Singapore foreign minister] informed us that the Bangladeshi national is not responding to the medicine given to him," Momen said.  

The Singapore government is bearing all the medical costs for the infected Bangladeshi citizens who are undergoing treatment there.

Five Bangladeshi citizens have so far been infected with coronavirus in Singapore, according to Singapore Health Ministry.
