20 dead in Delhi clashes

The violence-hit areas continue to remain tense this morning, with police and paramilitary personnel on the ground, reports NDTV.

Twenty people have been killed and more than 150 - including a child - injured as armed mobs rampaged through parts of northeast Delhi, the report said. 

Late last night, India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval visited areas affected by the violence and met with top police officers.

Doval visited areas such as Seelampur, Jaffrabad, Maujpur and Gokulpuri Chowk to take stock of the law and order situation, according to the report.

The Cabinet Committee on Security - the final decision-making body on matters related to country's security - will meet today to discuss the violence in the capital. Smoke was seen rising from buildings and streets were strewn with rocks and broken glasses after three days of violence between pro- and anti-citizenship law protesters, it said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who oversees law and order in Delhi, held his third meeting within 24 hours over violence in the northeastern part of the national capital.
