Law Minister Anisul Huq today said that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is not allowing the doctors of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) to provide her with treatment.

He termed the matter unusual.

"The doctors of BSMMU cannot start treatment of Khaleda Zia, as she is not giving them permission to do so. If she is sick, this seems to be unusual on her part," he said.

The law minister made the comment at a press briefing at his official residence in the capital's Gulshan area this afternoon.

Anisul Huq also said that the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court had earlier rejected a similar bail petition of Khaleda Zia as the one the High Court rejected today in the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case.

"Still, her lawyers moved another petition before the HC seeking bail in the same case," he said.

The minister said the HC rejected the bail petition after properly examining the documents and hearing arguments, and therefore, he has no comment on the issue.
