Tigresses out of WC after defeat against New Zealand

Bangladesh women crashed out of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup after suffering a 17-run defeat at the hands of their New Zealand counterparts at the Junction Oval in Melbourne today.

The Tigresses started off briliantly, bundling out New Zealand for 91 -- the second lowest total at T20 World Cups -- in 18.2 overs. However, a batting failure saw the Salma Khatun-led side suffer their third consecutive defeat in this edition's world cup.

Ritu Moni was the most impressive with the ball, as the right-arm pacer returned her career best T20 figures of four for 18. Only the first four New Zealand batters were able to get to double-figure mark with a team high of 32-ball 25 coming from the bat of opener Rachel Priest. Bangladesh skipper Salma Khatun also remained impressive, bagging three for seven in her 2.2 overs. 

After the exchange, the Tigresses suffered a batting collapse. They failed to rotate strike and find boundaries. However, Nigar Sultana, who was forced to retire hurt after a blow to the face, hit a brave 26-ball 21 but it could not help the Tigresses get over the line. A flurry of wickets at the death saw the Tigresses being bundled out for 74 in 19.5 overs.
