2 killed as tin-shed building catches fire in Chattogram

Two persons were killed and another injured as a fire broke out at a tin-shed structure in Halishahar of Chattogram early today.

Fire fighters doused the flame after an hour of frantic efforts and recovered the bodies of Md Mohon (35) of Chandina in Cumilla, and Md Jakir Hossain (36) of Kachua in Chandpur, our Chattogram correspondent reports, quoting Chattogram Fire Service's Assistant Director Farid Ahmed.

They rescued Kabir Hossain (35) with burn injuries and admitted him at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), the official said.

The fire originated around 1:30am at the building owned by Hazi Jahurul Haque in Boropole area, which housed a bachelors' mess and six shops, said fire service officials.

The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.
