No cricket until further notice: Nazmul
Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hassan today informed during a press briefing that all kind of cricket will remain postponed for an indefinite period.
The BCB president was talking to reporters in the BCB offices at Mirpur today, where he communicated the board's plans to keep the players safe from the coronavirus outbreak.
"As you know, sports all over the world have come to a halt. Our cricket has been stopped too. We postponed the DPL after the first round and back then we had decided to wait for two ways to see how the situation develops. We sat down and agreed on a decision.
"The situation is changing. There was a time when the players and the clubs were both willing to play but some of them have a different opinion now.
"Having watched the situation overall, we have decided to postpone all cricket until further directives are given. If the situation improves then we will start playing again," Hassan said.
He also said that it is unlikely that the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) will resume before April 15.
"We haven't decided on a specified time since the situation is changing everyday. If we knew that the situation will change after March, then we would have said March 31. We can't say if the situation will improve or deteriorate in that time.
"I don't think the DPL will begin before April 15 and it may be postponed further," the BCB president reiterated before saying 'not just players, but every person needs to be on guard regarding the coronavirus outbreak. So this is not the time for cricket'.
