5 Tripura children affected with measles flown to CMCH
Five children of the Tripura community who were critically affected by measles have been airlifted to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) from the remote Lungtian para under Sajek union of Rangamati.
The helicopter carrying those children started for CMCH around 3:00pm, our Bandarban correspondent reports quoting army officials.
"Our medical team went to the measles affected area yesterday and found the condition of five children to be very critical," said Brigadier General Md. Faizur Rahman of Khagrachhari Brigade.
"We are bringing them to CMCH by helicopter today," said the Brigade Commander.
"Our team also giving proper treatment to the other affected children in the locality," he added.
Yesterday a 16 member medical team of Bangladesh Army, along with two civilian doctors, went to the affected area, said Dr Istekhar Ahmed, upazila health and family planning officer of Baghaichhari.
"The children are suffering from malnutrition", he said.
"A total of seven children died of measles in the remote areas of Arun Para and Lungthian Para since February 26, while around 130 children were affected," Dr. Istekhar added.
