Combating coronavirus: GP to donate 50,000 PPEs, 10,000 test kits to select hospitals

Grameenphone

Grameenphone today said they will donate 50,000 medical-grade personal protective equipment (PPEs) and 10,000 test kits to health professionals at the frontlines of the coronavirus crisis.

The PPEs and testing kits will be given to hospitals designated by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) for treating coronavirus patients, according to a press release.

But the company has not mentioned when they plan to hand over the equipment.

The PPEs will have protective overalls, N95 masks, gloves and goggles.

The Chief Executive Officer of Grameenphone Yasir Azman said the company is stepping up with the donation to help the country in this challenging moment.

Their initiative was lauded by government too. Telecom Minister Mustafa Jabbar expressed hope that this will encourage other people and organisations to come forward.

"I believe other companies will also come forward and stand beside the government to tackle the Covid-19 outbreak to the best of their abilities," said Jabbar.

Grameenphone, in collaboration with 'access to information' (a2i) program and the DGHS, has been driving mass awareness through various initiatives as well.
