14-year-old with symptoms of fever, breathing problem dies in Ctg

A 14-year-old boy died in Chattogram General Hospital with symptoms of fever, coughing and breathing problems this morning.

He was kept inside the hospital's isolation ward, confirms our staff correspondent.

The boy, hailing from Cox's Bazar, was admitted to the hospital yesterday, said Chattogram Civil Surgeon Seikh Fazle Rabbi.

Samples of were collected and sent to Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) for coronavirus test, our staff correspondent reports quoting the civil surgeon.

The body was kept at the hospital and will be handed over to the family once the test result is received.

Meanwhile, six patients were undergoing treatment in isolation wards at different hospitals in Chattogram till this afternoon, Civil Surgeon Rabbi said, adding that a total of 928 people so far have been placed in home quarantine in the district.

Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) tested eight samples in the last 24 hours and found all of those samples negative for Covid-19, said Mamunur Rashid, associate professor of BITID.

BITID tested a total of 42 samples so far since March 25.
