Son of Chattogram’s first coronavirus patient also tests positive
A 25-year-old man, whose father is the first confirmed coronavirus patient in Chattogram, has also tested positive -- making him the second case in the port city.
Dr Hasan Shahriar Kabir, Chattogram divisional director of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), confirmed the matter after the test results came today.
The patient is the son of a 67-year old man who earlier tested positive for Covid-19, our Chattogram correspondent reports quoting the official.
The 67-year-old man is undergoing treatment at the Chattogram General Hospital while his son is now being treated at his home in isolation with mild symptoms.
A total 23 samples were tested at the Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) today, of which one tested positive, the DGHS divisional director also said.
The patient's son used to work at a super shop – Basket -- in Khulshi area of the city and went to work last on March 24.
Police, last night, locked down the shop until further notice and sent 14 of its staff members to home quarantine.
The 67-year-old man in Chattogram's Dampara area tested positive for coronavirus on Friday. His daughter and son-in-law recently returned from Saudi Arabia after performing Umrah and have been staying at the same house in Dampara area under Chawkbazar Police Station.
Owing to the confirmation, 40 families of six buildings in the area have been put under isolation.
