Sunamganj district locked down

Sunamganj district has been locked down from today until further notice in a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The district administration announced the decision following the recommendations of a local committee on coronavirus prevention affairs, said a notice signed by Mohammad Abdul Ahad, deputy commissioner of Sunamganj.

As per the decision, entry and exit of people to and from the district will remain under restriction until further instruction in this regard, the notice read.

Movement of all kinds of public transports, except those engaged in emergency services, will also remain suspended in the district during the lockdown.

Stern actions will be taken against anyone who would be found violating the lockdown measures, the notice added.

Earlier today, a woman tested positive for coronavirus in Sunamganj, making it the first confirmed case in the district.
