Art competition for children marking Victory Day
Marking the 44th Victory Day celebrations, Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala (art gallery) organised an art competition for children at its premises on December 16.
A total of 54 children from class I to class X took part in the competition in four groups.
The subjects of the competition were-“Open Choice”, “Killings of Intellectuals”, “Destructions by Local Collaborators” and “Sonar Bangla Free from War Criminals”.
The judges of the competition were-Mohammad Abdur Rouf, principal (in-charge) of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Fine Arts Institute; and Badal Chakraborty, trainer of Shilpakala Academy, Mymensingh.
The child artistes selected for prizes were-Khan Asiquzzaman, Moyeed Haque, Farhan Anjum, Mazharul Islam, Mohor Banik, Rafi Tanjum, Anika Tasnim Oishi, Sheshadri Sannyal, Khandaker Shahrier, Rakib Ahmed, Mahmudul Hasan and Faiza Khandaker.
Earlier, Dr. Bijoy Krishna Banik, deputy keeper of the art gallery inaugurated the competition as chief guest.
In his inaugural speech, Dr. Banik said, the children of today must have knowledge of the real history of country's independence after a nine-month struggle.
Through different programmes including art competitions, children could learn about the country and its Liberation War so that they are never misguided by vested quarters still working against the country's glorious independence and sovereignty, said Dr. Banik.
