Only 13 ICU beds for Covid-19 patients in Rangpur division
Only thirteen beds out of 1,292 are enhanced with ICU facilities in eight districts of Rangpur Division to treat Covid-19 patients.
Of the thirteen ICU beds, ten are in Rangpur district while three in Dinajpur, reports our local correspondent. There is no ICU support for coronavirus patients in six districts in the division.
The other 1,279 beds include 837 in isolation wards while the rest in normal wards, said Dr Amin Ahmed Khan, Rangpur divisional director of the Directorate General of Health Services.
According to the Rangpur divisional office of the DGHS, 251 beds are prepared for isolation wards in the hospitals in Rangpur Sadar upazila, 50 beds in Kurigram, 96 beds in Lalmonirhat, 110 beds in Dinajpur, 50 beds in Panchagarh, 100 beds in Thakurgaon, 80 beds in Gaibandha and 100 beds in Nilphamari sadar upazilas.
Besides, 455 beds are prepared for isolation wards in other 50 upazilas of Rangpur division.
So far, 50 patients have been diagnosed with Covid-19 since March 10 in Rangpur division. Among them, three have returned home after recovery, Dr Amin Ahmed Khan said.
