First Covid-19 death reported in Cox’s Bazar
A 65-year-old woman today died of Covid-19 in Cox's Bazar, the first death reported from the deadly virus in the district.
The woman, a resident of Ramu upazila in the district, died at Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital around 8:30pm this evening, said Dr Shaheen Mohammad Abdur Rahman, resident medical officer of the hospital.
She was admitted to the hospital yesterday with coronavirus-like symptoms. Her samples were collected and sent for Covid-19 test at Cox's Bazar Govt Medical College Hospital lab. The test report came positive earlier today, the RMO said.
Islamic Foundation's Cox's Bazar team has been informed for burial of the deceased, said Pronoy Chakma, Ramu upazila nirbahi officer.
