Scores of vehicles near Motijheel Shapla Chattar in the capital yesterday. The country is under a shutdown to slow the spread of Covid-19 and there are other restrictions in place. But people do not seem to care about social distancing there. Photo: Firoz Ahmed
Activists fighting for rights of farmers yesterday organised a unique human chain that is devoid of humans, at the capital’s Jatiya Press Club. They used balloons with faces sketched on them and fabric to emulate individuals holding hands together, probably as a measure to maintain social distancing. Unfortunately, police personnel wearing protective gear in the back seem to have forgotten about this important measure, as they are huddled together, putting themselves at risk of getting infected. A policeman with his face buried in his arms sits at the tennis court of Jatiya Press Club after several hours of being on duty wearing PPE on Topkhana Road. In the scorching heat, one of his teammates fainted not long before the photo was taken yesterday. Photo: Anisur Rahman
The two doyels of this famous Dhaka landmark stand in perfect contrast with the greenery behind them. The sculpture is cleaner while the trees are greener, as the city’s air has been less dusty during the shutdown. The photo was taken last week. Photo: Sk Enamul Haq
