11 red zones declared in Chattogram city
Authorities have categorised 11 areas under Chattogram City Corporation as red zones for Covid-19 infection.
Of those, Uttar Kattoli area of Pahartali (ward no-10) is going to be placed under lockdown first from June 16 on a test basis, Deputy Commissioner (Special Branch) Abdul Warish of Chattogram Metropolitan Police told the The Daily Star.
"Among the 11 red zones, we will lock down the Uttar Kattoli area first from midnight on June 16 and all shops, including pharmacies, of the area will remain closed during the lockdown period," he said.
"Necessary items will be provided to the residents by special arrangement so that people can stay at home," the DC added.
The other areas identified as red zones in the port city are: Kotwali (ward no- 16, 20, 21, 22), Khulshi (ward no- 14), Chattogram Port (Bandar) (ward no- 37, 38, 39), Halishahar (ward no- 26) and Patenga (ward no- 39).
