AL objects to 10 polls monitoring bodies

Ruling Awami League today sent a letter to the Election Commission, raising objection to 10 out of 30 election monitoring organisations ahead of the December 30 municipal polls.

A delegation of the party is scheduled to meet the chief election commissioner tomorrow to discuss the issue, a source in the Awami League, seeking anonymity, told The Daily Star this evening.

“In the letter, we have informed the Election Commission about our objection to 10 of the 30 election monitoring organisations,” he said.

The 10 organisations include Manobadhikar Somonnoy Parishad, Democracy Watch, Manobik Sahajjo Songstha, Manobadhikar O Somaj Unnayan Sangstha, Light House, Odhikar, Right Jessore, Jagorani Chakra and National Youth Forum.
