6 sued for gang raping housewife in Chandpur

Six persons have been sued on charges of gang raping a housewife in Chandpur's Sadar upazila on Saturday night.

The victim's husband filed the case yesterday with Chandpur Model Police Station, naming four and two unnamed perpetrators.

According to the case statement, on Saturday night, Asmat Ali Mizi, Babul Gazi, Faisal Gazi and Ruhul Amin Mizi and two others entered the victim's house by breaking the door, and gang raped the wife while keeping her husband at gun point.

The accused also obstructed the victim's husband when he tried to take his wife to the hospital following the incident, and threatened them with dire consequences if they disclosed the matter to anyone else, said the case statement.

The victim and her husband came to the police station and filed the case against them, said Md Nasim Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) Chandpur Model Police Station.

The OC said they were investigating the matter and that they had sent the victim to Chandpur Sadar Hospital for treatment.
