6.6kg gold seized at Dhaka airport

The preventive team of Dhaka Customs House detained a person and seized 12 gold bars weighing 6.6 kilograms from his possession at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka this evening.

The detainee, Shawkat, 25, arrived in the airport from Malaysia by a Malaysian Airlines flight, Shahiduzzaman Sarkar, assistant commissioner of the customs house, told The Daily Star.

Acting on a tip-off, the customs officials picked him up with the gold worth around Tk 3.4 crore around 9:30pm, the official added.
