Internet CRAZES of 2015
The internet tends to obsess over the weirdest of things. You can never predict what it will be and how it will start, but once it does, it's all you'll see. After a while, the internet will find something new to go crazy over and the last fad will be forgotten forever. We have listed few of the most popular internet obsessions of 2015.
John Cena: When was the last time you started watching a video and was completely sure it was going to end without having to see a certain individual pop out of nowhere?
Or put your headphones on with full volume without expecting to suddenly have your ears blasted off with the theme song of the same person? Videos, articles, gifs, and the comment section – you name it. Now you will always see John Cena coming.
Pepe: Pepe is 2015's answer to rage faces. It is an extremely ugly anthropomorphic frog used to show emotions. If actual frogs looked anything like this, the frog prince would have remained a frog forever.
Emotions are ugly, kids. Keep them to yourselves and those close to you, or maybe your therapist. But don't flaunt them on the internet. If you MUST, use Pepe faces. Pepe faces come in various forms – starting from the normal happy, sad, to (not so) rare SpongeBob and Batman.
The Dress: This fad started because the Laws of Physics sometimes tend to be ridiculous. A woman posted a picture of herself wearing a...spoiler alert...black and blue dress on Facebook. However, thousands of viewers on the internet weren't so sure. A number of them saw white and gold while others lot saw blue and black.
I, myself, saw different colours at different times. It was very intriguing and people kept coming up with bizarre theories behind the occurrence. However, once the physicists explained the reason behind it, no one actually bothered to read the whole article. The incident got so big that the owner of the dress got herself an invite to the The Ellen DeGeneres Show and probably made the maker of the dress a millionaire.
Why You Always Lying: This song by Nicholas Fraser is the 2015 way of calling people a chapabaj. It first became popular via Vines. So naturally, most people haven't actually heard the whole song but know this specific verse and has the singer's face etched into their minds. Later, it was made into various memes and the singer's face became equivalent to telling people their lies weren't fooling anyone. If you see someone sending you a picture/video of him, be offended. Or just stop lying, whichever is convenient.
The Internet will never cease to surprise us. Let's see what it has in store for us next year. Good luck with 2016 and a very Happy New Year to you all!
