Tragic death of a baby boy

A one-and-a-half-year-old boy died after broken glass from a showcase fell on him at his house in Dhaka's Kamarangirchar area last night.

The victim was identified as Ayan, the only son of Sohag Sarder and his wife.

Pieces of broken glass pierced the baby's body when the glass fell on him while he was playing near the showcase around 11:00pm, said Masum Majumder, a neighbour of the couple.

With critical injuries, the baby was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead around 1:00am today, he added.

The body was kept at the DMCH mortuary for autopsy, said Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the police outpost at the hospital.
