Bangladeshi shot dead by BSF in Kurigram, UP chairman says
A Bangladeshi citizen was shot dead allegedly by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Pakhiura border in Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram early today.
The deceased is Chhobil Uddin (36) of Airmarichar village in Narayanpur union in the upazila, reports our Lalmonirhat correspondent.
Chairman of Narayanpur union parishad, Mozibor Rahman, said BSF troops of Battalion-41 opened fire when Chhobil Uddin and his fellows went to Mantrirchar in India's Assam state during the early hours today to bring cattle.
Chhobil Uddin was shot in his abdomen and died on the way to his village, he said.
He used to work as a herder for cattle traders, the chairman said.
Mamun-ur-Rashed, officer-in-charge of Kochakata Police Station, confirmed the death of Chhobil Uddin.
Contacted, Lt Col Mohammad Jamnal Hossain, commander of Border Guard Bangladesh-22, said they heard gunshot. But BGB team found no body on the border.
