Arms case against Shahed: tribunal asks witness magistrate to appear tomorrow
A Dhaka tribunal today asked two witnesses, including a Dhaka metropolitan magistrate, to appear before it tomorrow for their statements in an arms case filed against Regent Group Chairman Mohammad Shahed.
The witnesses are: Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury and Inspector of Detective Branch of police Md Sairul Islam, also investigation officer of the case.
Earlier in the day, four more prosecution witnesses gave their statements before the same tribunal in the same case.
Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of Special Tribunal-1 of Dhaka recorded their statements. Later, the witnesses were cross-examined by defence lawyers on behalf of the accused.
The tribunal has fixed tomorrow for the next hearing on the case.
Shahed was arrested on July 15 from Satkhira when he was trying to leave the country on a boat.
He was later remanded in another case filed over issuing fake Covid-19 test results and charging patients for testing and treatment.
