Md Sohorab Hossain appointed new chairman of Public Service Commission
Md Sohorab Hossain has been appointed as the new chairman of Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC). He is a former senior secretary to the government.
The appointment order has been issued in a circular of the contract and foreign recruitment section of the public administration ministry today.
According to Article 138 (1) of the Constitution, the chairman has been appointed by the order of the president.
PSC's current Chairman Mohammad Sadiq will retire tomorrow after five years in office.
Sohorab Hossain will soon take oath as the chairman of the PSC.
He will hold the post for the next five years from the date of appointment or until he reaches the age of 65 (whichever comes first).
Md Sohorab Hossain completed his Bachelors (Hon's) and Masters in Bangla Language and Literature from Dhaka University. He is well known and recognised for his honesty and sincerity in the domain of Bangladesh Civil Service. Joining in Bangladesh Civil Service in 1986 (Batch 1984), Sohorab Hossain started his career as an Assistant Commissioner.
During his professional career, he was posted in different regions of the country with key experiences in field level administration. He was also the Secretary, Secondary and Higher Education Division and also worked as the Secretary in Ministry of Education and Rector in Bangladesh Civil Service (Admin) Academy with great commitment and dedication.
After appointed as the new chairman, he told The Daily Star, "I will try to fulfill my responsibilities with the cooperation of all. Pray for me."
