Singer Akbar to be taken to India for treatment
Akbar, a well-known singer of yesteryears, will be taken to India for treatment. The artiste had been admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical College Hospital in August, due to diabetes and kidney disease. Television personality Hanif Sanket, who worked with him in Ityadi, confirmed the news to The Daily Star. Sanket had brought Akbar from obscurity to mass popularity, after giving him an opportunity to sing in his show. 'Haat Pakhar Batashe' and his rendition of Kishore Kumar's 'Ekdin Pakhi Ure Jabe' is the artiste's most notable song. The Prime Minister has recently given Akbar a grant for BDT 2 Lakh, according to a statement made by his wife Kaniz Fatema on social media. "We were supposed to go to India on September 21, but the trip will be delayed due to India's Covid-19 test requirements', said Kaniz, who asked for prayers for her husband.
