Amrai Pari Amrai Parbo reaches out to unemployed middle-class families
Amrai Pari Amrai Parbo, a non-profit organisation, began their journey in 2014, by campaigning against drugs and addiction. The first stage of their programmes also involved free training to for skills like painting and sewing as well as computing education for widows, orphans and disabled children, so that they could look for work in Dhaka. They started their operations at Dinajpur, and eventually, moved to Dhaka.
They personally worked with schools and colleges to raise awareness against addiction due to drugs, helping around 150 students. They also try to gather unwanted electric equipment like phones and laptops, and donate them to people in need. They also provided the Rohingya community with essential food supplies and clothes. In 2019, the organisation received an award for their hard work from the Indian diplomat, Harsh Vardhan Shringla.
According to Syed Hasan Tareq, the president of the organisation, many middle-class families in Dhaka had to go through periods of struggle due to the pandemic. As a result, they focused on the unemployed middle-class groups. More than 320 of these families were provided with food. The NGO also did what they could to help find necessary medicines, and arrange COVID-19 tests for them.
Working with 12 volunteers, Amrai Pari Amrai Parbo arranged ambulances for families in need, around the time of Eid-Ul-Azha, and also buried deceased patients of COVID-19, with safety precautions. They have also gathered medications for patients infected with COVID-19. During Eid-Ul Azha, they distributed meat among families who were unable to celebrate the occasion, as they had people infected with COVID-19 at their houses. The organisation distributed masks that they were supplied to them by donors, recently. People an contribute to their causes through Facebook, or their website.
