House help falls to her death in Mohammadpur

A house help died after she fell from the rooftop of a building in Dhaka's Mohammadpur area this morning.

The victim was identified as Rokeya Akter (18), who hailed from Mymensingh district.

Her employer, Zahirul Islam, said the girl went to the rooftop of the three-storey building when they were sleeping around 8:00am.

"Hearing the screaming and crying on the ground, we rushed downstairs and saw her lying in a pool of blood," he said.

Critically injured, Rokeya was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead around 9:30am.

Zahirul said they are unaware of the reason of her going to the rooftop, but she used to go there to bring leaves from the Neem tree there.

Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost, said the body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
