3 held for gang-rape of housewife in Jamalpur

Rapid Action Battalion arrested three people in connection with a gang-rape case filed with Madarganj Police Station on Sunday night.

The arrestees are Sujan Miah (35), Nurnabi (40), and Razia Begum (35), MM Sabuj Rana, company commander of Rab (Jamalpur) said in a press briefing this noon.

The incident happened on September 22 when the woman's husband offered to take her to his friend's house but instead took her to the house of his first wife's brother-in-law, the Rab official said. 

There the victim was pressured to sign divorce papers but refused. She was then raped with the assistance of her husband, the Rab commander said.

The victim filed a rape case accusing five people with Madarganj Police Station on Sunday.

After filing of the case, Rab members managed to arrest the three of the accused while the others are on the run.
