6kg gold seized at Dhaka airport

Custom officials this evening detained a person with six kilogramme of gold worth of Tk 3 crore from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

The detainee, Jashimuddin, 40, hailed from Chittagong, said Shahiduzzaman Sarkar, assistant commissioner of Dhaka Customs House.

While coming from Chittagong in a domestic flight of Regent Airways at 6:50pm, Jashimuddin kept 50 gold bars weighing 5.8kg in his shoes, the customs official said. 

Earlier, the flight came from Bangkok to Chittagong, and then flew for Dhaka with domestic passengers there, Shahiduzzaman added.
