Parliamentary body recommends strict actions to recover default loans
A parliamentary body today recommended strict actions to recover default loans from persons and organisations.
The parliamentary standing committee on the Government Assurance also recommended that government's respective authorities strengthen oversight function on the state-owned banks to ensure transparency, accountability and prevention of corruption.
Presided over by Prof Md Ali Ashraf, chairman of the parliamentary watchdog and an Awami League MP, the meeting also asked the authorities concerned to prevent siphoning of money from the country by taking stern legal actions.
The committee recommended to the respective ministries to implement the promises made by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the ministers in parliament in a timely manner.
Committee members Mujibul Haque, GM Quader, and Abdul Mannan participated in the meeting.
Held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, the meeting was also attended by Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir, Senior Secretary of Internal Resources Department and Chairman of National Board of Revenue Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Munim, Senior Secretary of Financial Institutions Department Md Asadul Islam, among others.
