BNP places new 1/11 formula, blames Ershad

BNP today came up with a new formula on the much talked about political changeover centring 1/11 in 2007, saying Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad was responsible for the then political situation.

Addressing a discussion at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity Auditorium in the capital, BNP standing committee member Brig Gen (retd) ASM Hannan Shah claimed, “Several meetings were held at Ershad’s residence before the 1/11. It is Ershad who is responsible for 1/11.”

Titled “1/11 Conspiracy and Today’s Bangladesh” the discussion was organised by Swadhinata Forum, a pro-BNP social organisation.

In his speech, the former army official turned politician said BNP and Khaleda Zia were the worst victims of 1/11. He also called upon all so that 1/11 like political changeover does not recur in the country.

Earlier, BNP had blamed Awami League and its chief Sheikh Hasina for the emergence of 1/11.

Claiming that the 1/11 conspiracy is still on, the member of the BNP National Standing Committee, the highest policy making body of the party, also said masterminds of 1/11 will be tried today or tomorrow.
