BCL men confine RU VC demanding jobs
A group of Bangladesh Chhatra League men confined Rajshahi University Vice-chancellor Prof M Abdus Sobhan, two pro vice-chancellors and the proctor at the VC's residence in the university campus tonight, demanding jobs at the university.
The VC and Pro VC Prof Choudhury Zakaria, Pro VC Prof Anand Kumar Saha and Proctor Prof Lutfor Rahman were still confined as of filing this report around 11:00pm, reports our RU correspondent from the spot.
Nearly 25-30 leaders and activists of RU BCL former and incumbent committees confined them inside Abdus Sobhan's residence by padlocking the main gate, said RU BCL unit vice president Faruk Hossain.
RU BCL unit president Golam Kibria told our RU correspondent that they have come to know that despite instructions to cancel all types of appointments, one person was appointed on an ad hoc basis today.

Some BCL leaders and activists went to the VC to know why Chhatra League men are not getting jobs, he said.
Responding to a query about confining the VC and Pro-VCs in the building, the BCL leader said none of the current committee is involved.
Contacted, VC Prof M Abdus Sobhan said a letter has been issued from the Prime Minister's Office to give a job to a differently abled boy. "As the education ministry has instructed to stop recruitment, I informed the education secretary of the matter. He asked me to appoint and I recruited the boy."
BCL men came to him in the evening and demanded jobs, said the VC.
The VC added that it was not possible for him to appoint anyone as appointments have been cancelled as per the instructions of the government, added the VC.
