Relocation to Bhasan Char: third batch of Rohingyas leave Cox’s Bazar
Over 850 Rohingyas have left for Chattogram from Cox's Bazar's Ukhia refugee camp today. They are among around 3,000 Rohingyas who are set to be relocated to Noakhali's Bhasan Char tomorrow.
They are being taken to Chattogram by 17 buses, reports Prothom Alo.
The buses started around 12:20pm from Ukhia Degree College.
Over a thousand Rohingyas were scheduled to go to Chattogram from Ukhia refugee camp in the afternoon today while around 1,500 more are scheduled to be sent to Chattogram tomorrow morning, the Prothom Alo report adds.
Over 3,000 Rohingyas will be relocated to Bhasan Char island via waterway tomorrow, the daily adds.
This will be the third batch of Rohingyas relocated to the island from Cox's Bazar.
Confirming the matter, Additional Refugee Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner Md Samsuddoza told our Cox's Bazar correspondent that all preparations to take around 3,000 Rohingyas to the island have been taken.
They are going to Bhasan Char willingly, he added.
