Dora impresses with "WTFry" performance
Nadia Dora's earthy voice lends itself perfectly to folksy music, but the talented singer does not want to shy away from any genre that comes her way. Her recent releases, "Kolija Ki Shingara" in Zee5's "WTFry" and the title track of Kajol Arefin Ome's "Viral Girl", have resonated with the audience. We catch up with the young artiste for more.
Did you expect "Kolija Ki Shingara" to be a hit?
All I can say is that I am grateful to Zee5 for the opportunity, as it is the very first song that I can call my own. Indeed, I was excited for the song because of its quirky nature, and as it was written by the director, Anam Biswas himself. The composer, Ruslan Rehman, deserves credit for the song as well – he did a fantastic job.
How did you get approached for the project?
I was featured in a cover of Lalon song "Pagol Chara Duniya Chole Na". Ruslan heard it, and wanted to feature me in the song that he was working on for "WTFry". Of course, I said yes in a heartbeat – and I am glad that I did.
Your singing style is unconventional. Who are your musical idols?
I have always idolized Anusheh Anadil and Band Lalon's Sumi. However, I want to explore various genres myself, and build on my style even more. There is no end to improvement, and I will better myself for as long as I can.
What do you want to achieve in music?
All I will say is that I will strive on for as long as I can. Maintaining a singing career is tough, but I am prepared to go the distance!
