Shamset Tabrejee’s ‘Random Vignettes’ begins at Dwip Gallery tomorrow
After being closed for several months due to the ongoing pandemic, Dwip Gallery reopens in February this year with new exhibitions and other events. Prominent poet and painter Shamset Tabrejee's second solo exhibition, "Random Vignettes", curated by Mustafa Zaman, will be held at the gallery from February 12 to 26.
Shamset Tabrejee seeks to comprehend and examine the essence of time, history and reality, through his poetry and paintings. The dynamic forms of expression, derived from language as well as visuals, are the artist's way of expressing the chaos and indiscipline that exists in our world, and also acts as an outlet for his self-realisation amidst a larger paradigm. A Literature major from University of Dhaka, Tabrejee has worked in advertising and marketing for many years, all the while exploring the world through art and poetry.
"Random Vignettes" is a show of paintings made during the pandemic by the prolific artist, stemmed from the months of isolation. He was compelled to churn out paintings of exuberant colours and myriad different forms during these critical times. The featured works in the exhibition were painted over the last twelve months. The inauguration ceremony will be hosted with prominent guests from the art and literature scene.
Dwip Gallery, located in Lalmatia, is open six days a week, from 3 pm to 9 pm. They are closed on Mondays for public visits, but are available for appointments.
