LIFESTYLE chronicles
This year, Bangladesh celebrates its 50th anniversary, and chronicling half a century of progress is no mean feat! In the last 50 years, we have made noteworthy achievements in almost every field. The last year has been one of unprecedented difficulties, yet our progress has been steady.
As Bangladeshis, we are proud to witness our golden jubilee celebrations. At The Daily Star, we have our own reasons to rejoice; as a newspaper, we celebrate our 30th anniversary this year. The way we see it, it has been a Glorious 50 for the nation, and a Courageous 30 for The Daily Star.
"Lifestyle Chronicles" is the 4th instalment of our annual Anniversary Supplement. Here, we note the advancements we have made in our lifestyle in the last 50 years. Rather than a trip down memory lane, we focus on our present.
The COVID-19 pandemic has touched our lives in unforeseen ways. As the world came to a grinding halt, for months, the whole nation came to a standstill as well. Life took a pause, for our fears were very real. But just as the phoenix that rises from its ashes, we learned to improvise and adapt to the new normal.
This year, we have segments on 'Crafted with Love' that deals with our heritage crafts, the artisans, and some of the most iconic brands that have boosted us from national grounds to firm positions on the global scene.
'Root of the Issue' is all about the origins and technology improvements in our food chain—the most fundamental needs of our lives.
We conclude with 'A Wider World,' that gives us a bird's eye view of not only the city we love, but our lives in general.
Life as we knew it has changed permanently, but life will go back to some normal. Here is looking forward to that.
