BSF kills 1 at Naogaon border
A Bangladeshi national was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force at Adatala border point in Sapahar upazila early yesterday.
The dead, Joynal Abedin, 40, was a cattle trader from South Patari village in the upazila.
Witnesses said BSF members from Rangamati camp opened fire at a group of Bangladeshi cattle traders around 5:30am, leaving Joynal dead on the spot.
Lt Col Rafiqul Hasan, commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh Battalion-14, confirmed the incident.
The BGB authorities sent a letter to the BSF for holding a “flag meeting” for returning the victim's body, said Rafiqul.
