Local Market not yet ready to make “Rajkahini” – Joya Ahsan
Many people in Bangladesh have seen the entire movie and praised it a lot; however Joya Ahsan feels that the local industry is not yet ready to make a film like "Rajkahini". She said, "To be honest, making a film like this in Bangladesh is not possible yet. The taste of the audience has not quite matured yet, as like that in Kolkata. But the process of change has begun and I believe it will develop and exceed such levels soon."
Joya was subjected to controversy following some of her dialogues in "Rajkahini" by Srijit Mukherji. She defended her position about the dialogues, but did receive many threats via anonymous emails, letters and text messages. She feels that work that is disliked can be critiqued, but such threats rival the freedom of speech and the spirit of liberation.
She is currently working in Akram Khan's "Khacha", a film centred on the partition of Bengal based on Hasan Azizul Haque's short story of the same name.
