20 villagers in India’s Uttar Pradesh ‘mistakenly’ get mixed doses of Covaxin, Covishield

In a supposed goof-up by Indian health workers, 20 people were given a mix of Covid-19 vaccines Covaxin and Covishield at a village in Siddharthnagar district of Uttar Pradesh.
The 20 people were administered Covaxin in the second dose after getting Covishield in the first, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
The mix-up was reported at the primary health centre in Barhni where people from two villages received vaccine shots on May 14.
Chief Medical Officer of the district Sandip Chaudhary said yesterday that he has ordered an inquiry into the matter and assured stern action against those found responsible for this negligence.
The incident came to light when one of the villagers, Ram Surat, brought to the notice of the health workers that he received different vaccines in the first and second dose.
Accepting the shortcoming on the part of the health workers, the CMO said the medical teams are keeping a close watch on the 20 people.
The people who got different vaccines are under stress upon receiving the news but no issues have been reported with any one of them so far, health officials said.
