India crush Nepal by 7 wickets
India today picked up a huge seven-wicket victory over Nepal to become Group D champion of ICC U19 World Cup at Dhaka today.
After winning the toss, Indian skipper Ishan Kishan sent Nepal to bat first in the fog-curtailed 48-over match at Dhaka.
In face of a disciplined bowling attack, Nepal lost wickets at regular interval to reach 169 for 8 in their stipulated overs.
Opener Sandeep Sunar was the top scorer for Nepal with his 37-run knock.
Medium pacer Avesh Khan bagged three wickets, Mayank Dagar and Washington Sundar picked up two wickets each for their side.
In their chase, India rode on opener Rishabh Pant’s blistering 24-ball 78-run knock and skipper Ishan’s 40-ball 52-run knock to chase down the mere target in just 18.1 overs.
In his power innings, Pant set a new record of fastest U19 international fifty off just 18 balls. He was named player of the match for his brilliant batting display.
In the Group B fixture at Sylhet, Afghanistan beat Canada by 4 wickets.
In another Group D fixture, New Zealand beat Ireland by 4 wickets at Fatullah.
