Hoichoi announces eight-episode original ‘Mohanagar’
Popular OTT platform Hoichoi recently announced their next original series, "Mohanagar", written and directed by Ashfaque Nipun. The eight-episode series is set to stream from June 25 on the platform. Hoichoi launched a short teaser, followed by the unveiling of all lead cast members, through character posters with a dialogue from each of them. The full trailer of the series will be unveiled on June 19.
"Mohanagar" will feature Mosharraf Karim as O C Harun, Zakia Bari Mamo as Shahana Huda, Shamol Mawla as Afnan Chowdhury, Mostafizur Noor Imran as Moloy Kumar and Khairul Basar as Abir Hasan.
"I am excited for people to watch 'Mohanagar' because it is set in a realistic zone, with characters that we know from everyday life," says Ashfaque Nipun to The Daily Star. "We meet them face-to-face, or read about them in newspapers. Be it O C Harun, Shahana Huda, Afnan Chowdhury, Moloy Kumar or Abir Hasan, I believe audiences will be able to relate to each character. The story is based on the situations that unfold when all these characters cross each other's paths."
"As artistes, we can never be sure of how audiences will react to our performances. While some may enjoy the characters we play, others may have different expectations," says Shamol Mawla. "Nevertheless, I hope this series will be appreciated by viewers because we have tried our best. Overall, I truly enjoyed the experience, especially the night shoots, even though those altered our sleeping patterns. The essence we wanted to convey was rightfully captured."
The series will follow a seven-hour story inside a police station in Dhaka, where a mix of criminals, an eminent industrialist, the general public, members of the press, are all waiting to know the fate of that night.
"This is the first Bangladeshi web series on Hoichoi this year, after Taqdeer's success last year," shares Sakib R Khan, Business Lead of Hoichoi Bangladesh. "We are excited to share it with the audience and we request everyone to watch the series through Hoichoi subscriptions, rather than watching pirated versions."
