375 fined for defying lockdown in Khulna, Cumilla, Feni, Chandpur
At least 375 people were fined in Khulna, Cumilla, Feni and Chandpur districts for defying Covid-19 restrictions and health guidelines on the second day of the seven-day "strict lockdown".
KHULNA
Different mobile courts of Khulna city and upazilas conducted drives in the district between this morning and afternoon and fined 38 people, said Ariful Islam, executive magistrate of Khulna district administration.
During today's drive, they fined the 38 people Tk 18,650 for defying Covid-19 restrictions and health guidelines, the magistrate said.
Eight executive magistrates of the city, upazila nirbahi officers and assistant commissioners (land) of each upazila conducted the mobile courts as per the directive of Khulna Deputy Commissioner Md Moniruzzaman Talukdar.
The mobile courts were assisted by police, Ansar, BGB and army personnel, our Khulna correspondent reports quoting Ariful Islam.
CUMILLA
A total of 296 people were fined Tk 3,17,950 in Cumilla, said Mahmudul Hasan Russel, assistant commissioner of the district administration.
Besides, separate cases were filed against the 296 on the same grounds, Russel told our Cumilla correspondent.
Of the Tk 3,17,950 fine, two madrasas and two buses were each fined Tk 10,000 in Sadar upazila for not obeying the directives, said Executive Magistrate Jania Afrin, who led the drive.
Kamrul Hasan, deputy commissioner of Cumilla, told our Comilla correspondent that the district administration deployed 67 mobile courts in the city corporation area and in 17 upazilas of the district to maintain strict lockdown today.
The mobile courts were assisted by army, BGB, Police, RAB and Ansar members, the DC said.
FENI
A total of 41 people were fined in Feni town and Fulgazi upazila of the district.
A mobile court led by Sadar upazila Assistant Commissioner (land) Sultana Nasreen Kanta fined 32 people Tk 5,600 in Feni town and nine people Tk 2,300 in Fulgazi upazila, said the assistant commissioner.
They were fined for carrying passengers in CNG-run autorickshaws, not wearing masks and serving people in hotels, added the AC land.
CHANDPUR
A mobile court fined a restaurant Tk 10,000 in Baburhat area of the district town for defying restrictions, said Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sanjida Sahnaz.
Besides, the mobile courts collected more Tk 3,500 fine from restriction violators during drives in various parts of the district town between this morning to evening, she said.
Nine cases were also filed during the time, the UNO added.
